Our Coaches

Mandurah Swimming Club is excited to announce the appointment of Head Coach, Hyojin "Sharky" Son.

Sharky has an impressive International coaching record, having spent the last 6 years as Head Coach of Manjimup Marlins Swimming Club. Previous to this she has coached at various clubs in South Korea and Canada.


Sharky's primary focus will be on developing swimmers mentally and physically as a person whilst maximising their talent and potential with a focus on maintaining a strong team culture, mental edge and training with the right technique.

Sharky is excited to lead Mandurah Swimming Club to be a dominant force in swimming and will be a great mentor for all our coaches.

Ben currently coaches our Junior and Dolphin Squads whose focus is on skills and drills and making swimming fun for our younger members.

Ben is one of our Senior Squad swimmers and National Open Water swimmers.

Ben is currently studying a double major in Marine Biology and Biological Science at 
Murdoch University. His favourite marine animal is the Peacock Mantis Shrimp.

Mitchell Shackles
Mitchell currently coaches our Junior and Senior Squads.

Mitchell is one of our Senior Squad swimmers and a regular State Age Finalist over the years. He is a Senior Life Guard, Trainer in Surf Life Saving and recently obtained his IRB Driver Award.

Mitchell is currently studying Nursing at Notre Dame.
